How to calculate honey jars by hand
Convert both weights to the same unit. Divide the available honey by the fill weight and round down to a whole jar. Subtract the honey used in those jars to find the remainder.
Full jars = floor(batch weight ÷ fill weight).
Leftover honey = batch weight − (full jars × fill weight).
For example, 40 lb is 640 oz. At 12 oz per jar, that fills 53 jars with 4 oz left over: 53 × 12 = 636 oz, and 640 − 636 = 4 oz.

Measure the honey, then plan your jars
Zero your scale with the empty container on it, or subtract that container's measured weight from the filled weight. The calculator does not subtract tare for you.

Some honey may remain on equipment. Enter the amount you expect to have available and your intended fill weight. The calculator applies no assumed loss percentage or overfill allowance.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the number change when I select another unit?
The displayed number converts to the new unit while keeping the same weight. For example, 40 lb becomes 18.1436948 kg. If a conversion needs rounding, the calculator retains the original measurement until you edit the number.
Why does it round down the jar count?
Only jars filled to your chosen weight count as full jars. Any remaining honey is shown separately. A rounded leftover never displays as another full jar's weight.
What numbers can I enter?
Use a decimal point and up to nine decimal places, without commas or scientific notation. Batch weight can be zero to 50,000 kg; fill weight must be between 0.1 g and 100 kg (or the equivalent in ounces). Very small positive leftovers display as less than 0.1 g or 0.01 oz.
